Minor inconvenience, I had to do a little more sanding. There were a few thin spots on my print and the resin sweated its way through the pores of my blade. Warning: If you follow in my footsteps and solidify this model with resin as stated above make sure you have really good top and bottom layers. I used Smooth-On Smooth-Cast 327 in mine for fear of the exotherm (heat) melting the PLA, this stuff has a much longer setup time thus should not produce as large of a heat spike. Optional: This model includes a pour spout and bleeder hole for 2-part resin to be poured (injected with a syringe) into the blade to surround the threaded rod, stiffening the overall assembly of the blade. Also, depending on your printer's accuracy you may need to use epoxy or super glue (CA) to get the threaded inserts to stay in place. This should be about 5/8"-3/4" of threaded rod beyond the end of the hilt. Note: The threaded rod will need to be cut to length before the pommel can be installed. Books, maps, newspapers, small sheets - this scanner does it all. Same technology and quality as its sibling but faster than ever Further this A0 model can be upgraded to robotic scanning. My intent for the final assembly and paint will also include some strips of leather braided along the guide trenches in the hilt. 4 SCAN MASTER 1 4 SCAN MASTER 2 4 SCAN MAS4 SCAN MASOur new alternative in A0 book scanning. Perhaps even constraining the model with tape while the glue dries. Any assembly steps that involve keeping the blade straight, I would recommend doing on a nice flat surface. Once said nut is removed the blade can be inserted into the guard, followed by the hilt and pommel (with another threaded insert) completing the assembly. The blade is further assembled with these pins along its length and glued in place with the same epoxy, held in compression with the threaded rod and a nut until dry. The tip of the blade has a threaded insert (McMaster Carr 92395A116) installed to hold a 1/4"-20 threaded rod (McMaster Carr 94210A168). The split halves of all of the major parts (blade, pommel, hilt and guard) were assembled with small pins for alignment (McMaster Carr 98381A469) and two-part, 5-min epoxy (Loctite Quickset). This was created based on the artwork from Skyward Sword as well as the statue that came with the collector's edition of BotW and a pair of dial calipers, then scaled to human size. The V3D function can be disabled and regular 2D scanning can be performed. This is my rendition of the Master Sword from the most recent Legend of Zelda games (Skyward Sword & Breath of the Wild). This approch is unique and raises the outstanding image quality of SMA scanners to another level. In addition it increases the depth of field significantly. As a result V3D images offer perfect reproductions of nearly any structured surface.

The software then combines the separate images into one image. The process is based on different lighting scenarios where the same area is being captured with several different lighting scenarios on the fly. It is a newly designed scanning technology that produces results that look like 3D.

The V3D technology presents new opportunities as it can be applied to materials outside the normal archive and library world. Finally, light reflecting items such as coins, seals, metal prints and silver or Gold coated originals can be captured at the highest quality. It offers the capability of digitizing structured surfaces such as wood, rubber, plastic, fabrics, carpet and many more types of material. The SCAN MASTER 1 A1 book scanner comes with V3D Technology – a new scanning technology which allows users to scan many different types of originals. As a result all SMA book scanners can be operated independent from ambient light and do not irritate the operator‘s eyes. The illuminator of all SMA scanners is located inside the scan head and is simply moved across the original. Harmless and uniform illumination is guaranteed. All SMA scanners are equipped with a special LED light illuminator that does not produce any ultraviolet or infrared radiation. All the operator has to do is to flip the page and release the scan. The rest of the process is fully automatic. Simply place the book and hit the scan button. Operating the SMA SCAN MASTER 1 A1 book scanner is easy and convenient. If this is not enough a motorized 50 cm book cradle is optional available. With a motorized standard book cradle of 35 cm range it can handle really big stuff. The SCAN MASTER 1 is a heavy duty A1 book scanner for very thick books that need to be digitized at a very high optical resolution.
